The Green Award Foundation celebrates its 25th anniversary with a conference
As Barbara Kathmann, Alderwoman for Economics at the Municipality of Rotterdam, reminded participants at the opening of the conference. Important sustainability themes and innovation, such as the energy transition and autonomous sailing are topics that will be addressed today.
"We have a common goal", exclaims Kathmann. "For Rotterdam it is important that we work on a sustainable living and working environment. And from the international perspective we can continue to strengthen our position as the Maritime Capital of Europe, by collaborating on high quality, innovative projects. By jointly striving for effective regulation that stimulates innovation. And by jointly developing knowledge and expertise to achieve an efficient, safe and sustainable shipping industry. This is possible because all the parties involved in the maritime chain are here to shape the renewal, from port and maritime service providers, commodity traders and ship owners, to start-ups, SMEs and global players. It is feasible in Rotterdam, the Maritime Capital of Europe.
